This Saturday, 24 November at 7pm, will see the premier of Happy Valenciennes, a new work for saxophones and electronics by Polish born composer Elsbieta Sikora in Valenciennes, France. The new work is the fruition of a residency and collaboration with Art Zoyd studios and live sound designer Carl Faia, saxophonist Michel Supera and the Conservatory of Valenciennes, the Royal Conservatory of Mons in Belgium and the Phenix National Theatre.
Born in Lwow, Poland, Elzbieta Sikora studied electronic music with Pierre Schaeffer and Francois Bayle in Paris and music composition with Tadeusz Baird and Zbigniew Rudzinski in Warszaw, Poland and with Betsy Jolas in Paris. She has composed in numerous genres, most recently completing and having premiered her opera Madame Curie at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, but has a particuliarly large and varied repertoire of electronic music.
