Christopher Fox at 60… Ein Kind Ist Uns Geboren and Trostlieder (in Widerwärtigkeit des Kriegs)

Christopher Fox, being 60 this year, has written a massive new work commissioned by Exaudi to be premiered by them in Wigmore Hall (info below). This freshly composed work is presented as a set of companion pieces for the early Baroque masterpiece Geistliche Chormusik by Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672) and will be performed in-between the different motets that make up that collection, starting with the timely and timeless Ein Kind ist uns reborn SWV384:

You can find a more complete account of the old and new works in a recent Guardian article by Maestro Fox himself, How Heinrich Schütz captured the true spirit of Christmas, in which he describes some of the background and inspiration for both the Schütz and the four books of his own Trostlieder (in Widerwärtigkeit des Kliegs).
