Brunel alumnus heads to Cambridge

The press release -> Recent Brunel Music graduate Charles Pardoe has won a scholarship to the University of Cambridge. Achieving a First at Brunel (B.A. Hons., 2013) and a Distinction for organological research at Edinburgh (MSc.R., 2014), Charles joins Sidney Sussex College as an AHRC-DTP Full Award Scholar this Autumn. The College, which hosts the Consortium for Guitar Research, attracts an international panel of stringed instrument scholars. Under Prof. Ian Cross, a music cognition specialist in the Faculty of Music, Charles will read for a PhD in organology. His thesis examines the impact of tuning difficulties upon the guitar’s cultural status, c.1550 to present.  Bravo and good luck!
