Apartment House give us Laurence Crane in new double CD

“I use simple anlaurence-crane-658x325d basic musical objects; common chords and intervals, arpeggios, drones, cadences, fragments of scales and melodies. The materials may seem familiar – perhaps even rather ordinary – but my aim is to find a fresh beauty in these objects by placing them in new structural and formal contexts.”
-Laurence Crane

Brunel associated ensemble, Apartment House, just released a rare collection of chamber works dating back to 1992 and running though 2009 of British composer Laurence Crane.

This double CD of chamber pieces can be found on the unique label, Another Timbre. The album contains 14 works, totalling over two hours of music, played by the ensemble who have championed Crane’s music since the mid-90’s (you can hear an example of what’s on the album below… but go and get the album, it is a gem).

The CD is officially launched with an Apartment House concert devoted to Crane’s music at Cafe Oto on Tuesday 15 July.
